26" Sterling Silver, 69 gram Pendant/Brooch by Master Silversmith Bernard Dawahoya ('37-2011) Dawahoya is the most collected Hopi Silversmith. Born at Second Mesa in 1937 Dawahoya began making jewelry in the 1950's. He is represented in the permanent collection at Harvard's Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology and other museums nationwide. Numerous private collections have his extraordinary work. He is known for his precision detail and use of heavy Sterling in his pieces. Overlay silver work is usually his choice of medium. This piece uses the Kachina theme as the central design with black oxidized background. The item its a pendant, not a necklace.
