Up for sale is a completed, hand crafted Crewl Enhanced picture. It is called ColorArt and features a scene printed on fabric which is then embellished with some type of embroidery. In this picture which shows a victorian school with all the children and teacher. With colorart, the picture is printed onto fabric and areas of the picture are enhanced with crewel embroidery. In this case the areas done are: shirt and pants of boy on left. Teacher skirt, with girl's dress neary. Two children in the forefront and skit of girl walking up path. Also the windows are outlined and the posts on the porch and roof of porch. There are other little touches throughout. This is from the JCA Simplicity Collection. Included in the listing is a picture of a kit for this item which shows how it would be looked actually framed with a mat. On the package it indicates that this design is from Mrs. B. After researching the artist I found that her full name was Sharon Bond Brown and she was a Colorado artist. Mrs. B by the Colorado artist Sharon Bond Brown. On the back there is a label from the JCA company indicating that this was item number 5038 and this particular model was hand crafted. The finished size is 9 x 12. All kits by the Johnson Creative Arts Company are made in the United States. This is a wall hanging. It is stretched around plywood backing and there is brown piping all around the outside. It just needs some hardware to be able to hang. This comes from the JCA Inc Simplicty Collection. This picture was a hand crafted model to a needpoint kit which would have been on display in a store to show the prospective buyers how the item will look when finished. It was covered in plastic when displayed to protect the picture. The plastic was removed to take the picture. I was able to acquire quite a few of them; some were just matted and others framed. I learned recently that the name on many of these finished pieces identified the company as JCA Inc. (Johnson Creative Arts) with an address in Massachusettes. They evidently ceased operations and will not be making/distributing anymore needlecraft kits. These finished piece from kits are already hard to find and will only be offered occasionally perhaps on the internet. Per the JCA website: "Due to the death of our owner, Alan S. Getz, JCA, Inc. has ceased operations indefinitely. We would like to thank our loyal customers who have supported JCA for over 50 years. JCA manufactures premium needlecraft products and distributes fine knitting yarns.
