This beautiful 16 inch Hopi Piki Basket Tray is a true masterpiece by Dorleen Gashweseoma, a renowned artist from the Hopi Spider Clan in Hotevilla on the Third Mesa of Arizona. The basket is made of high-quality materials including Yucca, Staghorn Sumac, and Rabbitbrush, and features a vibrant multicolor design including red and shades of green that showcases the Hopi tribe's unique culture. This is a vintage piece from the 1970s-1980s era. It has been handwoven with exceptional skill and attention to detail, making it a one-of-a-kind collectible item. This piece has been awarded multiple awards including the Governor of Arizona's Arts Award and Best of Show at the 72nd Annual Hopi Festival of Arts and Culture. Dorleen learned the art from her grandmother Mina Gashweseoma. Piki is a paper thin wafer made of corn meal mad on a hot piki stone.
