This is a rare programme (playbill) from the London revival of the LIONEL BART and LAURIE JOHNSON musical "LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS!" at the Mermaid Theatre in London. (The Original London production opened May 28th, 1959 at the new Mermaid Theatre and ran for 330 performances. This revival opened May 17th, 1962 and after 111 performances transferred to Her Majesty's Theatre on August 16th, 1962 for an additional 553 performances.) ..... When the Mermaid Theatre at Puddle Dock opened in 1959, it was the first new theatre to be built in the City of London for nearly 300 years. "Lock Up Your Daughters", adapted by the Mermaid Theatre's manager was the inaugural production and was intended to run for a six-week season, but the overwhelming success of the show resulted in a six-month extension. The revival once again starred HY HAZELL and the cast included BERNARD MILES, RICHARD GOOLDEN, PETER GILMORE, LAURIE PAYNE, JOSS ACKLAND, WILLIAM STEPHENS, CHRISTOPHER HANCOCK, HUMPHREY HEATHCOTE, COLIN ELLIS, DAVID LLOYD MEREDITH, STANLEY PLATTS, BRIAN HEWITT-JONES, RALPH TURNER, SALLY SMITH, MARY MILLER and JOYCE MANDRE ..... CONDITION: With the exception of minor creasing to the outside edge of the cover, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
