This is a 9" x 7" Original and Vintage watercolor on paper by the New York painter Peter Joss, 1915-1995. The image shows a New York corner with a cop on the beat. Signed at lower right. Fine condition. From the painter's widow's estate in New Mexico. The Biography Follows: Peter Joss was born in Estonia in 1915. He studied art in Berlin until the advent of Nazi Germany. He returned to Estonia and continued his art education at the Estonia Art Academy in Tallin. After immigrating to the United States, he continued his studies at the Samuel Fletcher Memorial Academy with Adolf Fleischer, Leon Karp and Martin Jackson. Joss exhibited widely in the US, from Florida to Texas. He had a one-man show in Paris, France. He received several prizes in-group shows. Joss was affiliated with the Art Alliance in Philadelphia and the Hall Art Gallery in New York. He exhibited many works depicting modernist and Cubist interpretations of New York City. He owned a shirt factory and the paintings were produced on his down time. These watercolors were purchased from his widow. As ever this is guaranteed 100% money back, to be as represented.
