The 1950's, Brastoff signed piece is done in a Fall foliage design with rich colored, black outlined, autumn leaves and berries on a brilliant orange enamel background. The berries are done with a raised bubble effect giving them dimension. This piece was designed by Sascha Brastoff (October 23, 1918 - February 4, 1993), an extraordinary multi-talent ceramist, metal sculptor, and jewelry designer. He owned and worked out of his downtown, Los Angles studio “The Sascha Brastoff Ceramics Factory” from 1947-1963 when he left his company due to ill health. It is signed Sascha B on the front and numbered on the back 110AC. The piece was designed as an ashtray - popular for the time - but could also be used as a great party serving dish - or preserved as art. CONDITION - The piece is in fine, vintage, pre-owned condition! Some normal age/use wear, colors are amazing, nice glossy finish, very minimal surface wear only a few light scratches, a little enamel damage along edge with a few scattered flea nicks, small chipping at 1 of the slots and the worst 1 1/4" long area which is shown, a star/pressure crack and small chip on opposite sides in the curve about half way up - see last photos. SIZE - It measures approximately 10" across, 1 1/4" high. A classic, Sascha Brastoff signed piece to give as a gift, use yourself or display in your own home or collection!
